The test takes about a minute and only tells you whether a listing is worth pursuing, not exactly what it's worth.

02 — First-Pass Triage

Once you're home with a real pile, researching every single book is too slow, and ignoring everything is how real value gets missed. Triage is a fast sort — seconds per book — that routes each one into a lane based on what it obviously is: worth scanning now, worth scanning later, needs a manual look, a possible bundle piece, or an exit. Condition is checked first, before category, because damage overrides everything else.

03 — The 2-Minute Value Check

For anything triage flagged, this is the closer look — built to catch two opposite mistakes at once: undervaluing something genuinely worth money, and burning twenty minutes on an ordinary book. It starts with a quick buyback-price check, then knows when that number can be trusted on its own and when it needs a second look against real sold listings.

04 — The Book Value Ladder

Every book lands in one of four tiers: sell it individually, sell it to instant buyback, hold it for a bundle, or responsibly exit it. The ladder isn't arbitrary — each tier reflects a real tradeoff between price, effort, and certainty, and the logic that decides between them is two straightforward questions, run after a condition check.

05 — Buyer Route

For books headed to instant buyback, this is what decides which specific vendor to ship to — and, just as importantly, when to stop comparing offers and just ship. Buyback vendors pay wholesale-liquidation prices, not resale prices; this mechanism exists to keep you from either shipping blind or wasting time chasing a few extra dollars on a low-value book.
